Coffee consumption has been linked to the prevention of Type 2 diabetes in women with a history of gestational diabetes mellitus, known as GDM, according to a report in MIMS Endocrinology.
A study of participants with a GDM history followed from 1991 to 2017 found caffeinated coffee consumption inversely correlated with T2D risk. Out of 4,522 participants, 979 developed T2D.
Researchers said coffee, when consumed at levels of three to five cups per day, could serve as an alternative to other less healthy beverages and be incorporated into a healthy lifestyle.
