Just in time to start thinking about those 2023 resolutions, The Power Plant Café, a Jersey City go-to for vegan + vegetarian eats, has opened a second location at 336 2nd Street. With their first spot in downtown JC still booming at 60 Christopher Columbus Drive, The Power Plant Café will continue to serve up fully plant-based menu options. Need even more veggies on your plate? A third location will be opening at 361 Newark Avenue before the end of the year and will be called Power Plant Kitchen. All three locations are brought to you by Sam Boyce, owner of BoyceMode — a local plant-based meal prep delivery service. Read on to learn for more about Sam + what to expect at The Power Plant Café’s existing, new, and upcoming locations.
You may know Sam from taking a Base Beast class or Base Fit class at Base Health Club, or from teaching Bootcamp at Solaris Lofts, or you may have heard of him from Boycemode, his plant-based meal prep company. Sam was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes and hypertension and knew he needed to make a complete lifestyle change.

As part of his wellness journey, Sam decided to adopt a plant-based lifestyle, and start working out. Sam told Hoboken Girl, “Going Vegan was a huge part of my wellness journey and helped save my life. I became passionate about plant-based nutrition when I realized that the rewards were not only sustainable but also put me in optimal health.”
To change his lifestyle, Sam started with how he fueled his body, building from a foundation of compassion and integrity in his food choices. As a result of his lifestyle change, Sam’s mood improved, he had sustained energy, and he was in overall better health. Sam knew that this lifestyle change was too important to keep him to himself, so he began sharing his new lifestyle with his family and friends.
Boycemode was born in 2012 as a result of this. Boycemode is a vegan meal prep delivery service that provides weekly plant-based meals, full-body cellular cleanses, and protein meal replacement smoothies. In 2020, Sam left his full-time corporate job to pursue his meal prep company and to continue teaching fitness classes and his pursuit of health and wellness.
Base Health Club has also been a huge part of Sam’s wellness transformation, going back to the Club H days, where he works out, teaches classes, and does personal training. This journey led Sam to open The Power Plant Café by Boycemode at Base.
The Power Plant by Boycemode serves both Base members and the public community with nutritional smoothies, fresh-pressed juices, plant-based baked goods, coffee, and one-of-a-kind handcrafted Boycemode meals.

The cafe will also partner with The Grind Shop, another Jersey City business, to bring the downtown community gourmet La Colombe coffee, espressos, and lattes.
These storefronts provide the community with plant-based nutrition and a healthy lifestyle, as the motto promotes “Clean Energy for a Healthy Life.” The Power Plant’s second location is open daily from 8AM – 6PM. Keep an eye on their insta for more about the third location — we’ll keep you updated as soon as we learn more.
